Materials and Texture Studies
1. Organic Material (Renderman)
The project aims to recreate aging process of organic materials. Every aspect of the fruit tart had sub-surface material on it. For each of the element of the fruit tart, 3 maps were painted and plug in the PxrSubsurface shader. The position of the lights in the scene heavily affects the result of the render.
2. Man-made Material
The project aims to recreate aging process of man made materials. The biggest challenge was reducing noise from mental ray displacement. By creating a approximation editor under Rendering Editor > Mental Ray, it helps maya to approximate the displacement better.
3. Sampler Material
The project aims to create accurate material from references. The main challenge from this project was creating believable textures and translucency. By adjusting the translucency,translucence depth and translucency focus in the blinn shader, it recreates the translucency attribute of the material.
